Beauty Snippets' Top Six Summer Scents

Marc Jacobs Honey*

Most perfect scent for summer with notes of pear, orange and honey. It’s a sweet, sunny and bright scent for summer days.

One Direction Our Moment*

Yes…One Direction. I really like this musky fruity scent for PM wear. Not too heavy thanks to the florals (jasmine, frangipani, freesia) but ‘heavy’ enough for night time.

Ralph Lauren Ralph Rocks

This has been my quintessential summer scent over the years. Everything about it reminds me of summer. It starts off heavily with scents of citrus fruits but quickly dies down to a very creamy coconut scent. Love!

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

When I am looking for a refreshing summer scent, I always opt for Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue which I wears well both during the day and night.

Calvin Klein CK Downtown*

This is a very floral, musky, woody scent which I find a teensy bit too heavy to wear during the day say, for brunch and soaking up some rays but I like to wear it in the evening.

Clarins Eau de Jardins*

Light, fresh Summer scent – previously reviewed here.

****

Obviously, you can tell I always go for the same kind of scents – fruity, sweet, floral..haha

Review: Clarins Eau des Jardins Treatment Fragrance

When perusing the cosmetics floor at Myer, I’ve always skipped over the Clarins counter. It’s just never had that appeal to me. However, thanks to this blog, I have been introduced to some beautiful gems from Clarins. The first is this treatment fragrance in Eau des Jardins.

Clarins Eau des Jardins Treatment Fragrance $30AUD/50ml

What is a treatment fragrance? They are basically mood-shifting fragrances with the addition of plant extracts that work to soften your skin. Eau des Jardins description is ‘uplifting, refreshing, captivating’.

I am not good at describing fragrances in terms of top notes etc but here’s a Cliff Notes version – light, airy, summery scent. Fresh and citrusy without being cloying. There’s hints of a floral scent but it’s very light – you’d only notice the floral notes sometimes.

I’d say that the treatment fragrances are less of a perfume and more of a spray, mist or body splash. They don’t last as long as regular perfumes but I’ve found that the scent does linger very lightly after a while. I love that throughout the day, I’d get a surprising sniff of Eau des Jardins.

As you can see, the bottle is a nice ombre of red and yellow. It’s very pretty to display on your vanity and the like. Eau des Jardins reminds me of Summer and I love to spritz it when the Winter weather is just too gloomy for my liking!
