Dream Week 2014

LGFB Dream Social

Look Good Feel Better is a public service program which aims to improve the self-esteem and quality of life of those undergoing cancer treatments. They do this through workshops that teach patients beauty techniques to help manage the changes to their skin, hair and appearance. Did you know that there will be 10, 000 cancer patients who will be attending these workshops this year?

Dream Week: 7 Days of Hope (31st August – 6 September) is LGFB’s annual fundraising and awareness campaign for LGFB’s workshops. This year, they have a couple of activities you can get involved in.

#7daysoflipstick – LGFB’s social media campaign to highlight the empowering role of makeup can play during cancer treatment; pledge to wear a bold or new lipstick everyday for the 7 days of Dream Week, snap a selfie and post it to your social media channels.

The Lipstick Effect – Purchase a lipstick or lipgloss from any brand at David Jones or Myer and $1 from every purchase will be donated to LGFB.

Pin It Loud and Proud – Purchase a branded Tree of Dreams pin for $5 from David Jones and Myer cosmetic counters, Terry White chemists and discount drug stores.

Dream Week Merchandise – During Dream Week, there will be a pop-up store at Westfield Sydney City selling beautifully designed carry bags, coin purses, makeup bags, bracelets, pins and umbrellas. There will also be two information posts at Westfield Bondi Junction and Chadstone in Melbourne where members of the public are encouraged to speak to the volunteers, make a donation or purchase a pin.

$7 for 7 Days of Hope – Make a direct $7 donation to help fund LGFB’s newest campaign – home-delivered Confidence Kits. This ‘workshop-in-a-box’ initiative aims to give a helping hand to women, men and teens who cannot attend a workshop for various reasons but this gives them the chance to still reap the benefits of LGFB’s program. So there you have it. I encourage you all to take part in at least one of LGFB’s campaigns during Dream Week to help raise awareness and funds to this amazing program.
