Jumping onto the Pantone Colour of the Year bandwagon, Innoxa has released a limited edition lipstick in the shade, Marsala. When the Pantone Colour of the year was announced, I gotta admit, I kind of thought “Yeah, definitely not a colour I can pull off cosmetics wise!” Well, oops. This interpretation by Innoxa has made it a wearable, earthy tone which is perfect for the cooler weather. This is a nice mix of red and brown. It’s not too muddy on but has enough red to just brighten up your face.

It glides on smoothly, with no pulling at all, thanks to ingredients like jojoba oil and avocado oil. It feels comfortable and light on the lips and lasts about 4 hours until eating and/or drinking. See that swatch there? That’s just one swipe!

I love this shade; it wears so well against my skin tone and has made its way into my “work appropriate” lip stash.

These sleek, frosted tubes of pigmented lip colour is a new offering by Innoxa promising

A luxurious non-drying lip colour that combines the texture of a lipstick with the shine finish of a gloss! The weightless formula leaves lips looking rich in colour and feeling refreshed upon application.

As you can see, the frosted tubes and printed brand name gives these Full Colour Lip Creams a sleek look. They come with a doe foot applicator for easy precise application. These are available in six different shades and I was sent Citrus Cake and Lovable Lilac. Citrus Cake is a pigmented orange red. Lovable Lilac is a soft purple-pink which leans neutral-warm on me.

In terms of colour payoff, Citrus Cake applied with more pigmentation compared with Lovable Lilac which was a bit more sheer but was able to build up the intensity with ease. Both are creamy and have a glossy finish. Both did leave a very light stain after the gloss faded away. They felt comfortable on my lips and the gloss finish was not too sticky.

In terms of wear time, they lasted about 2 hours without eating or drinking happening. This is as expected for glosses for me.

Review: Innoxa Summer Matte Lipsticks in Baby Doll and Tangerine & Classic Colour Lipstick in Grapefruit

Review: Innoxa Summer Matte Lipsticks in Tangerine and Baby Doll & Classic Colour Lipstick in Grapefruit

Review: Innoxa Summer Matte Lipsticks in Tangerine and Baby Doll & Classic Colour Lipstick in Grapefruit - $14.95AUD

I am slowly getting through my products backlog. Today, I have a review of three Innoxa lipsticks – two are from their Summer Matte range and one from their Classic Colour range.

Summer Matte lipsticks

Despite the name, the Summer Matte lipsticks aren’t all matte and no shine. As you can see from the lip swatches, they do give a bit of shine. The one thing with ‘matte’ lipsticks is to ensure you exfoliate and prep your lips prior to application otherwise, it does hang onto the flakies on your lips (as can be seen in my Tangerine swatch). The texture of both the Summer Matte lipsticks were very creamy for a matte lipstick!

Baby Doll is a pale creamy pink.

Tangerine is a straight up bright orange!

None of the Summer Matte lipsticks had any shimmer. Tangerine being the brighter of the two, lasted 3-4 hours until it started to fade. Unfortunately, due to the dry nature of my lips, the light stain left behind looked gross so I had to run off to the bathroom and wipe it all off. Babydoll, on the other hand, because it is a lighter shade, lasted about 2 hours and left no evident staining on my lips.

As I deem Tangerine way too bright for me, I like to tone it down by applying a pinkish gloss over the top to make it more coral and more muted – see here for one combo (day 41 of the #lippyaday challenge) where I topped off Tangerine with Australis Pout Paste in Pash Me Pink.

The lipsticks are supposed to be fragrance-free but I noticed that it had a floral scent? Or maybe a soapy scent. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. This didn’t bother me too much although I would have preferred for it to not have the scent.

Classic Colour lipstick

Grapefruit is a sheer muted pink-red shade with a frosty finish. It does a great job at brightening up your face and is great for everyday.

This Classic Colour lipstick had a very nice scent resembling berries – it’s a very yummy fruity scent. Like the above Summer Matte lipsticks, Grapefruit has a very creamy texture even though it’s quite sheer.

Due to its sheerness, I found that Grapefruit only lasted about an hour before I had to reapply which is a shame. It doesn’t leave a stain either which doesn’t bother me too much because I’d rather reapply the whole thing than have a stain on my lips.

Packaging

As you can see, the packaging is simple and understated. The lid goes on with a click and does not just simply fall off making it handbag-friendly. I love that the bottom of the lipsticks are ‘blocks’ of the shade contained inside which makes it so much easier to decide what shade you want to wear and actually picking it out of your lipstick arsenal!

Swatches

Below are swatches of the above lipsticks, taken in natural daylight and one swipe each. You can see how the Classic Colour lipstick is sheer compared to the opacity of the Summer Matte lipsticks!
