Review: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Polishes

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes

I received these a while back and cannot believe I haven’t written about them yet. Spoiler alert: LOVE

Launched with 47 shades plus a top coat, the Miracle Gel polishes are a “up to 14 days” wear polish. All you need to do is apply 2 coats of colour – the instructions say don’t apply a base coat – let it dry, and then you apply the top coat. It involves minimal steps and no light needed. Removing it is just as easy – there’s no need for the whole “soak your hands in acetone” rubbish. Simply remove with a swipe of nail polish remover!

I got amazing wear time from the Miracle Gel polishes. At first, I wasn’t that impressed with them because it only lasted about a week for me and I usually get a week out of my professionally applied manicures anyway. However, after reading somewhere online that I should “cure” my manicure in sunlight, I got better results – 10 days! That’s unheard of for me because I am quite rough on my nails. Even after a week of wear, the shine is still there! However, when it chips, it chips bad. I also got “wear lines” – lines which appeared after about a week of wear where it appeared as though the polish was cracked.

The top coat comes in a black bottle and the only con I have about it is that when applying, there is some colour transfer.

But after using it a few times, there hasn’t been any muddiness in the bottle. Unfortunately, it isn’t a quick drying top coat so you do have to sit still for at least 15-30 mins. At least it adds lots of shine to your mani like a good top coat should?*

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes: Birthday Suit, Pink Tank, Sugar Fix, Street Flair, Greyfitti, Peach Malibu

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes: Birthday Suit, Pink Tank, Sugar Fix, Street Flair, Greyfitti, Peach Malibu

Left to right (2 coats): Birthday Suit*, Pink Tank*, Sugar Fix*, Street Flair*, Greyfitti*, and Peach Malibu

Birthday Suit – very light nude, appropriate for work/office
Pink Tank – one of my favourites and not just for the beautiful bright pink shade but the formula on this is perfect – not too runny, perfect creamy finish and opaque in 2 coats
Sugar Fix – a slightly dusty, milky, cornflower blue. The formula on this one was slightly thin so I cheated and used quite thick coats but other bloggers have done 4 thin coats
Street Flair – dusty purple
Greyfitti – medium grey
Peach Malibu – warm peach. I love this for when I’m sporting a tan (which is actually nearly all year round….haha)

I’m not sure if I would call these “gel” polishes per say, as the appearance, alone, did not look like salon gel polishes. I would actually call the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes as long-lasting polishes.

I have read mixed reviews about these polishes and for me, they work. I loved wearing these over the holiday season, where time was low but parties were high, so I was glad I had these. It was one less thing to worry about knowing that over 2 weeks of partying, my nails would still be looking fresh! And the good thing is the fact that you can remove them without having to soak your nails in acetone.

The Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Colours and Top Coat ($16.95) are available from from PricelineChemist Warehouse and other Sally Hansen stockists.

Today I am sharing with you Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat textured nail colour ($9.95AUD) in three shades – All Yarned Up, Peach Fuzz and Tight Knit.

When I first saw these, I thought “Fuzzy coat? Eh???” So I had to get my hands on some just to try it out!

The only way I can describe them is – cupcake sprinkles on your nails. It gives your nails a slight ‘fuzzy’ texture, per its name. They all contain bar glitters in different complementary shades – the difference is that the bar glitters are matte!

Pictured is 2 coats, topped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

Peach Fuzz – yellow and orange matte bar glitters. I found this to be the ‘sheer’ one out of the 3 I received.

Tight Knit – matte blue and white bar glitters. Most dense out of the 3.

All Yarned Up – yellow, blue and peach matte bar glitters. Not as sheer as Peach Fuzz but not as ‘dense’ as Tight Knit.

When dry, they all had a bumpy texture even when I applied my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, it didn’t smooth out. As you can see, these can be applied on their own or as a topper. I’ve even seen a cute nail art tutorial using the Fuzzy Coats here.

I get about 3 days wear time before they start chipping. Thing is, with these and glitters, you can just go over any chips to prolong your manicure!

Available in 7 different shades, these are only $9.95AUD/9.17ml and stocked at Target, K-Mart, Priceline, Terry White Chemists, Chemist Warehouse and selected independent pharmacies all around Australia.

Sally Hansen Amber Ruby Nail Prisms

Sally Hansen Amber Ruby Nail Prisms

Amber Ruby is probably one of the most complex nail polish shade I own. It shifts from red to gold to green to orange. Perfect for Autumn. Apparently, underwater, you can also see  blue!

I achieved even opaque coverage in two coats. It lasted about 4-5 days before I noticed any chipping.
