Review: Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush

Having seen the hype around the Clarisonic and even the contemplating of purchasing one, I was very excited when I was given the opportunity to trial the Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush.

*Note – I received the European version which is slightly different to the Australian retail version so my review will be based on the model I received*

The Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush claims to be 10x more effective than hand cleansing – which, after use, can certainly agree with. It it waterproof, making it easy to use both in and out of the shower – I am lazy and like to think I am multitasking when I cleanse my face in the shower. There is only one setting, which I’m guessing is a gentle cleanse setting but I have read that the Australian version has two settings – gentle and deep cleansing. I would have liked to try the deep cleansing setting to see a difference but such is life…Another difference I’ve noticed is that the Australian version comes with two brush heads whereas the European version only comes with one.

Usage is very simple! For someone, like me, who has never used such a device before, a quick browse through the instruction manual was all that was needed. Cleansing your face with the Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush should take a minute – the brush has divided this minute into 3×20 seconds cycles, each separated by a very short pause. This is so you cleanse one cheek, then the other and finally onto the T-zone.

I have been using this with my Neutrogena Naturals cleansers (I alternate between both!). I wet the brush then one pump of the cleanser onto the brush head. The instruction manual states you can apply the cleanser onto your face first and then use the brush. I have used this both with a wet and dry face and the Neutrogena Naturals cleansers have always foamed well.

Because the Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush spins, the effect is similar to exfolating so I haven’t felt the need to use an exfoliating product afterwards.

As a result of using the Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush, my skin is left feeling ridiculously smooth and clean. At times, I have cleansed my face in the shower with my hands and then do another cleanse once I get out and I am shocked at the amount of makeup that is still left on my face. The brush head ends up being tinted a light pink due to the leftover blush!

An additional thing about this product is that it comes with its own stand making for easy and neat storage! The product requires a 6 hour charge which will provide you with 30 minutes of use…and seeing as you’re only using it for a minute each use time, so 2 minutes a day, one charge should last you about two weeks. It actually lasts me much longer because I use it every second day…cos I’m lazy haha

This product retails for $199AUD and replacement heads are $19.95, and are recommended to be changed every 3 months. These can be purchased at Myer and The Shaver Shop.
