Christmas Looks #2 and #3

For look #2, I changed the lashes to something more “out there” using the Glameyes Manicare Sparkle Lashes, a limited edition release made with Swarovski elements*. I decided that if I was going to keep the rest of my make up “simple”, I may as well go all out with my lashes. Little effort for maximum impact!

Christmas Looks with Sorme Cosmetics

I kept the same base and eyes from look #1 but just changed the lips to Sorme Confection lipstick*, a nude peach-pink, almost leaning towards coral, shade. The Sorme lipsticks feels light and hydrating on the lips and the shade makes your lips look so lush!

Look #3, I replaced the lipstick with Empress Lip Thick Gloss, a strawberry red shade*. The gloss claims to be a lip plumper as well but I didn’t notice any major lip plumping effect. I did appreciate that the gloss is not too sticky :)

And a close up of the eye look for all three looks:

I love the effect of these lashes however they did feel slightly heavier than what I am used to. The Swarovski elements added a nice touch of glamour to such a simple look.

When you layer both the lipstick and lipgloss, you get a really nice light berry shade!

Christmas Look #1 – Red Lips

When it comes to Christmas, my default look is always a red lip.

This look features a bright red lip with a very basic eye look. I will be posting look #2 soon which switches up the lip colour but still the same eye look.

Summer Beauty Guide Part 4 – Bronzers

Summer is coming and Beauty Snippets has compiled a Summer Beauty Guide to make the transition from stockings and pants to shorts and skirts easy.

Part four is a compilation of 3 of Beauty Snippets’ favourite bronzers to take you from day to night.

Summer Beauty Guide: Bronzers

As you will no doubt notice, this Summer Beauty Guide doesn’t feature any fake tanning products. This is due to the fact that I am already olive-skinned and have never used a fake tanner in my life. I can’t include such fake tanning products if I have yet to trial them. However, to make up for this, here are three of my favourite bronzers at the moment!

1. Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Bronzer ($29.95AUD at selected Priceline stores nationwide)*

Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Bronzer

This bronzer is one of my prettiest looking powders in my collection. It’s divided into four even sections, each section has a different shade with the exception of the top and bottom. This leans towards the orange end of the bronzer spectrum compared with my HG Tarte Park Ave Princess bronzer. However, it’s only a slight orange tint which won’t make you look like an oompa loompa. The shimmer particles are apparent when worn making it more of an evening/sunset bronzer for me. It’s sheer but buidable and doesn’t fade throughout the day.

2. Tarte Park Avenue Princess mineral powder bronzer ($29USD at Sephora)

Tarte Park Avenue Princess mineral powder bronzer

Perfect bronzer for everyday. It’s an ideal shade for a bronzer for me. Not too brown but not too orange either. The shimmers are very fine particles which give off a nice glow. I like my bronzers to be sheer as I can build up the intensity to my liking. This is my HG bronzer. I’ve been using it every summer for the past 2 years and it’s still going!

3. Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting Sun Stones ($29.95AUD at selected Priceline stores nationwide)*

Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting Sun Stones

These are like the infamous Guerlain Meteorite Balls. Each ‘sun stone’ is a variant of a bronze shade with gold shimmer.

This is more of a highlighter for me than bronzer as the glitter is too chunky and it’s a bit too sheer for me. However, it works perfectly as a highlighter when I opt to wear no blush, bronze blush or nude blush.

Swatches

Swatches: 1 - Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Bronzer, 2 - Tarte Park Avenue Princess mineral powder bronzer, 3 - Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting Sun Stones

As you can see in the swatch, the Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Bronzer is the more orange of the three, with Tarte Park Avenue Princess bronzer more copper bronze in shade and the Physicians Formula Bronze Booster beads are much sheerer and has more larger glitter particles.

Review: Physicians Formula Happy Booster range

First, a word of warning – since this is a review on the range, it’s quite long as I’m reviewing three powder products from the range. Sorry!

Dear Australian beauty market, please please please, can we have a beauty launch the same time as other countries? Love, Beauty Snippets.

Who remembers reading about these cute lil heart powders from Physicians Formula and their Happy Booster range on US beauty blogs last year? \o <-me!

Australia finally launched these and today I will be reviewing the bronzer, blush and translucent powder. Please stay tuned for the mascara and eyeliner review and following that will be a FOTD featuring these products.

Packaging

All three are packaged pretty much the same.

They are contained in a cardboard box individually, with all sides of the box glued down…

…even the blush itself…

Not quite sure of the rationale behind this because that glue was a bit annoying and difficult to get off.

Size comparison

As you can see, the translucent powder and bronzer (both 11g/0.4oz) are larger than the blush (7g/0.24oz).

They come in nice metallic pink packaging with a flip top lid and the top layer holding the blush/powder/bronzer, lifts up to reveal a little mirror and brush.

I can’t comment on the included brushes as I never use them. I either chuck them or leave them in their original packaging.

Product

Infused with our Happy Boost Blend, featuring Happy Skin and Euphoryl, natural plant extracts which have been shown to promote a feeling of happiness by mimicking the effect of Endorphins and helping protect the skin from environmental stress.

The sweet scent of Violet provides a feeling of joy each time you apply.

Happy Booster Bronzer ($21.95AUD/11g)

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Bronzer

The hearts in this compact ranges in shade from a sandy light brown to dark chocolate brown with a pink heart. I’m not sure why there is a pink heart in a bronzer…

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Bronzer

Anyways, it does have a slight shimmery finish which I don’t mind for a bronzer. I am quite simple when it comes to bronzers – as long as it ain’t orange, I’m happy so this works as a nice bronzer for me.

Happy Booster Blush in Rose ($29.95AUD/7g)

With hearts ranging from light beige to pale pink to bright pink, this blush is perfect for that ‘rosy’ cheeks look. Like the ‘I just came in from the cold’ look. Love love love! Lasts about 5 hours before I noticed any fading.

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Rose

There’s some slight gold shimmer throughout which works to give your cheeks that ‘glow’. Powder is finely milled making it very easy to work with and apply.

Happy Booster Powder in Translucent ($21.95AUD/11g)

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Face Powder - Translucent

Hearts ranging from pale beige to light brown with a single pink heart.

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Face Powder - Translucent

I’m not one who normally uses powders. I only had one other powder in my stash and this makes a nice addition. I don’t know…for a face powder, wouldn’t you want one that’s matte? The shimmer particles are quite fine though so it works nicely to set my tinted moisturiser or foundation and it also works as a highlighter. Yay for multi-use products.

Does it work? I know nothing about the science behind this mood boosting business. What I do know is that the cute packaging and hearts work well to make me smile each and everytime I grab the compact as it’s so darn cute. As mentioned in their spiel, the powders contain mood boosting scents of fresh floral. Normally, I hate scented floral products but the scent in these don’t linger at all and are not overpowering and/or overbearing. It’s just a nice soft and light scent.

Here are swatches of all three –
