What’s In My Travel Bag – Hong Kong and Singapore Version

Firstly, I’d like to apologise for the lack of posts. I went on a whirlwind trip to Singapore and Hong Kong for 10 days and didn’t have time to schedule posts! But now I’m back :)

I love seeing what skincare, beauty, cosmetic products people take with them on their holidays. This was what I brought with me:

In my carry-on:

Lanolips – couldn’t find my 101 Ointment in time for this trip, so I opted for the lip balm to prevent my lips from drying out.
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream – this is a super intensive hand cream that’s great to combat the dryness that comes with the recycled airplane air. It gets absorbed quickly into my skin and doesn’t leave a greasy mess behind.
Sheet Mask – we all know how drying the air can be on the plane so a face mask always helps to keep my face hydrated. I like to travel with a sheet mask (or two if it’s a long haul flight) and put it on once I get settled in.
Dermalogica Ultrasoothing Eye Serum – once I remove the sheet mask, I apply some eye cream and moisturise and off to sleep I go! Right before landing, I’ll apply a bit more to brighten up my eyes.
Kora Organics Energising Citrus Mist – whenever my skin is feeling a bit dry and tight, I’ll spray this mist. It’s refreshing and brightens up my skin instantly.
Eyedrops – the dry air irritates my eyes so eye drops are an essential!
Hand sanitiser – cos germs everywhere.

What I actually packed for 10 days in locations with high humidity. On holidays, I tend to wear as little makeup as possible as I like to use that time to go exploring!

Skincare:
Cleanser – Bioderma Sebium Purifying Foaming Gel. I’ve used this before and I know it works well with my skin so packed a sample size one on the trip to use it up!
Exfoliator – Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. This is my HG exfoliator. It’s so gentle but works effectively.
Toner – Kora Organics Energising Citrus Mist. Multi-tasking :)
Moisturiser – Nivea Q10 Day Cream. My favourite everyday moisturiser which works well as a base as well.
Makeup remover – Bioderma Sebium Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution*. Again, another HG. My go-to makeup remover! Feels like water but removes EVERY trace of makeup.
Night cream – Nivea Q10 Night Cream. Not greasy, and wake up with soft and hydrated skin. Winning.
Eye cream – Dermalogica Ultrasoothing Eye Serum*. Gentle and keeps the eye area moisturised.
Serum – Hydraluron*. The different climate caused havoc with my skin for a bit and Hydraluron helped keep it moisturised and soft.

Cosmetics:
Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream* – I’ve used this so much and can’t believe I haven’t written a review on it yet. It’s one of my HG products because it provides medium coverage yet feels so light on the skin.
Australis ACONTOUR* – All about that contour game!
NARS Luster blush and theBalm Frat Boy – I opted for a dusty rose and peachy blush as they seem to be the most flattering on my skintone.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow – Again, another HG. Perfect brows that stay put in the humid!
NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer – Lack of sleep meant heavy eye bags and I knew that this NARS concealer had its work cut out. Did not disappoint!
Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliner – Didn’t pack any eyeshadows with me so for some definition, I packed this. Long-lasting and does not smudge.
Benefit They’re Real mascara – Knowing that it was the Summer in Hong Kong and Singapore, I knew I had to pack some waterproof, hard to remove with water products to make it through the trip. This Benefit mascara is one of my favourites. It holds a curl well and even has its own remover.
Edward Bess Ultra Slick lipstick in Night Romance, Bite Beauty Sucre matte cream lip crayon and NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl – opted for one everyday, one for night and one which can multitask for any occasion.
Batiste Dry Shampoo – ok, so technically not a makeup product but a beauty product nonetheless and one I cannot live without!

My Holiday Makeup and Skincare

This was a post that was meant to be up a while back. It’s sat in drafts because I’m lazy….Sorry! However, seeing as I’m jetting off today, this post serves well to remind me what I did and didn’t use thus packing more wisely.

Just an overview – I didn’t plan on wearing much, if any, makeup on holidays. However, we were there to attend a wedding so I had to bring some makeup to wear just for that day. Every other day, it was a swipe of blush and some tinted lip balm.

{For your convenience, I’ve included links to my reviews of products that have featured on Beauty Snippets}

Bags I used – I travelled with the Tender Love + Carry cases (see my review {& dilemma!} here). These lasted three weeks of abuse and show no sign of giving up.

Brushes {L-R: Royal & Langnickel Eyeliner/Brow GL-8 from the SILK Green Line, Sigma SS219/Pencil – E30, MAC 217, MAC 222, Essence of Beauty Blush brush, Sonia Kashuk Blusher no. 2 brush, Coastal Scents Flat Buffer Brush}

Makeup

I brought along two eyeliners which I knew would withstand the heat and humidity in Malaysia and Singapore – Physicians Formula Custom Eye Enhancing eyeliners in Brown {from the blue eyes trio} and Black {from the brown eyes trio}. As always, I stuck to my holy grail Urban Decay Primer Potion and for my brows, decided to go with a powder – MAC Porcelaine/Browning brow shader.

I needed something compact but versatile as I didn’t really want to bring more than I could carry so I opted for the Benefit She’s So Jetset palette which came with neutral eyeshadows, blush and highlight as well as a mini mascara tube and lipgloss (left the lipgloss at home as I knew I wasn’t going to use it on holidays).

I also brought along a contouring powder {MAC Emote powder blush} and blusher {NARS Luster blush}. I hardly wear heavy foundation at home so it was a no brainer to bring a BB cream to countries where the average temperature was 30 degrees and had high humidity. Not only that but I just needed something to even out my skintone and the Innoxa Skin Perfecting Foundation 5-in-1 BB cream does the job perfectly.

As for my lips, I brought along with me my trusty Chapstick but also took MAC Moxie lipstick with me to wear for the wedding.

Skincare

I like to keep my skincare routine as simple as possible simply because I am lazy. So all I brought with me in my bags were Curash baby wipes and Bioderma Crealine H2O to remove my makeup, a little travel pot of my HG Cetaphil moisturiser as well as a Kosmea Replenishing Face Cream (to trial) and Kosmea Rosehip Oil. I also took with me on the plane the Kosmea Hydrating Rosewater Mist to freshen up on the plane. In case of pimples and breakouts, Benzac AC 5% came for the ride – thankfully, I didn’t have to use it.

Miscellaneous

Schick Hydro Silk shaver – because you don’t need to bring a separate shaving cream!
Contact lenses
Shampoo and conditioner – I had sample satchets of Organix Cherry Blossom and Ginseng which worked very well. I love all of the products I have tried from Organix and this didn’t let me down. Also used up the new Clear Scalp & Hair which, again, was nice. I’m not quite fussed when it comes to shampoo and conditioners so long as my hair is clean and feels soft which they both did. I also transferred some of my purple shampoo into a travel bottle for my blonde hair. This was a random brand I found for sale at Hair Attack. I can’t tell if it’s really working or not….
Treatment – Pantene 3 Minute Mask – didn’t end up using it because I didn’t have time!
Hair oil – I tend to blowdry my hair every few days so I’ve been using the Joico K-Pak Styling Oil for a while now. Leaves my hair so soft!!
Mosquito repellant – I get absolutely slaughtered by mosquitoes! So this was such a huge lifesaver. The rare few times I didn’t re-spray or forgot to use it, I regretted it as soon as I felt the first bite!

So there you have it! What do you bring? Are you an overpacker like me?
