My Summer 2016 Essentials

My Summer Essentials

My Summer Essentials

With the weather warming up, and Summer just around the corner, I have compiled this guide of beauty products to get your body ready for Summer!

Eco Sonya Foaming Body Wash $21.95 – buy
This foaming body wash is lemongrass and pink grapefruit scented, it is a great fruity and zesty body wash for summer days. If I forget to moisturise after my shower, my skin is still quite moisturised from the body wash itself.
Sanctuary Spa Green Lemon & Orange Blossom Body Scrub $14.99 – buy
Another zesty one but this has small granules for light body exfoliation – great for getting your body beach ready. The granules are not too big or rough making it really gentle for exfoliating the body and the scent is very fresh and calming!
Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser $9.99 – available at major supermarkets and pharmacies
I get lazy during the Summer to stand in the heat and moisturise. It’s just simply too hot and stuffy to be spending 10-15 minutes moisturising. Well, Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser to the rescue! It sprays on and covers your body in seconds, is absorbed quickly allowing you to get dressed almost immediately.
1000 Hour Softsole Express (not pictured) $8.99 – buy
A convenient and quick at home treatment to remove rough skin on your feet. It doesn’t require any scrubbing – you simply rinse your feet, apply the booties and soak for 90 minutes before washing it off. It peels the dead skin off your feet completely over 7 days. I was a bit hesitant using this not being sure whether it would work or not but it does work!
Beyonce Heat Kissed 50ml $49 – available at Priceline and Chemist Warehouse
A warm seductive scent with a hint of vanilla, and top notes of lychee and dragon fruit makes this my new favourite PM summer scent. It’s sweet to begin with but then the sandalwood and patchouli comes through and makes it a sultry scent.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black rollerball $32 – available at Sephora
To me, this is a sensual boozy vanilla scent. It goes so well with my skin chemistry and one I like to apply for those warm Summer evenings.
Natralus Paw Paw ointment $5.50-$14.95 – stockists
After the big fiasco involving Vaseline and Lucas Paw Paw ointment a few years back, I steered clear of basically all paw paw ointments. This one by Natralus is free from petroleum jelly and other petrochemicals, parabens and mineral oils. Its versatility has seen it make a permanent home in my handbag. For uses such as dry, cracked skin to sunburns and itchy skin, this has been a great quick fix for my heat rashes. It comes in a number of sizes – from a small 7g tube to a 75g tube.
Revo lip balms $4.99 – available at Priceline
Packaged like the infamous EOS balms, these Revo balms have been making a home in my handbag, car and desk. They come in a variety of colours matching to their respective scents – my favourite is the watermelon one. They’re moisturising and very easy to apply.
Gliders Non-Slip Sports Band Pony Tail Holders $4.49 – available at Priceline
Waterproof and great for those with an active lifestyle, these hair ties are a lifesaver. They do not budge! Great for when you’re swimming or hiking.

Summer Beauty Guide Part 3 – Moisturise

Summer is coming and Beauty Snippets has compiled a Summer Beauty Guide to make the transition from stockings and pants to shorts and skirts easy.

This is part three of the Summer Beauty Guide – showcasing a number of products to keep your skin smooth and soothed.

Summer Beauty Guide - Moisturise

1. Vaseline Total Moisture Lotion ($5.41AUD/225ml; $7.89/400ml; $11.57AUD/750ml, available in supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide)*

Vaseline is one of the many few brands that has remained constant in my beauty cupboard. It’s just a trusted brand to me. I know that it would never fail me!

Vaseline Total Moisture Lotion

Vaseline has launched a new range, Total Moisture, with new stratys-3 technology aimed at delivering hydration to all three layers of the skin’s surface (information from press release).

Available in three types (three seems to be the magic number today!):

(i) Cocoa glow – this is an off-white, almost cream shade of lotion. It has a faint smell of cocoa butter which does linger after application but it’s very faint! This feels slightly ‘thicker’ out of the three lotions but it’s by no means a heavy duty body moisturiser. I think this will be used much more in Winter as I find the scent of cocoa butter very comforting during Winter.

(ii) Dry skin – unlike the Cocoa Glow, the dry skin lotion is straight up white. It has a very very faint smell of milk? Like a clean smell…It’s a great body lotion for everyday.

(iii) Aloe fresh – love this. It’s got a slightly stronger scent of the three but it’s a refreshing aloe scent that doesn’t linger. As it has the inclusion of aloe, this would be great to apply after sun exposure.

All three lotions work well at keeping your skin hydrated without you being left feeling sticky – its absorbed quite fast. They are also lightweight so you can’t feel that you are wearing any moisturiser once its absorbed.

You really can’t go wrong with Vaseline…

2. Organix Hydrating Moroccan Argan Oil (products available in supermarkets and pharmacies across Australia and from www.beautyandme.com.au)*

Organix Hydrating Moroccan Argan Oil - Creamy Oil Body Lotion and Dry Body Oil

(a) Creamy oil body lotion ($16.99AUD/385ml)

Despite its name, this ‘creamy oil body lotion’ ain’t that oily – and that’s a good thing. It’s light and is absorbed very quickly thus it isn’t greasy allowing you to moisturise, get dressed and head out the door!

The scent is very similar to the hair conditioner in the same range – floral, spices and citrus.

(b) Dry body oil ($16.99/200ml)

I’ve never used a dry body oil before so this was an interesting product to use. I always picture body oils to be greasy and remain greasy even after 30 minutes or so. This isn’t the case with the Organix Hydrating Moroccan Argan Oil – Dry Body Oil. This Dry Body Oil has a fresh floral scent. I love applying this after a shower when my skin is still damp as it locks the moisture in. After using this, I find that there’s no need to moisturise the next day!

Now as you can imagine, the only gripe I have about this product is the packaging. The product is an oil. A very liquid and runny oil. When I flip that top, there’s a hole to release the oil and every time I use it, there is always oil dripping everywhere – down the bottle, down my hands and onto the sink.

3. Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Refreshing Body Mist ($25AUD/120ml, available at Crabtree and Evelyn stores – to locate one click here)

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Refreshing Body Mist

I won this through a giveaway and decided to include it as part of the ‘moisturise’ feature of this guide despite it not being your typical body moisturiser.

I have never used a body mist before but with Sydney experiencing a heatwave last week, I went to town with this. It keeps your skin soft and smooth all with a calming and soothing scent of the ocean. Just imagine how good it feels on a sticky hot day to have this sprayed onto your skin and then the scent evoking images of the ocean and palm trees. Bliss!

4. Weleda Wild Rose Body Lotion ($33.90AUD/100ml, available at Weleda stores nationally – store locator here)

Weleda Wild Rose Body Lotion

I won this product as well – through Angela’s blog – and she’s spot on in her review. To summarise what she said about this – light rose scent that isn’t overpowering, light body lotion and essentially makes your skin look awesome.
