Review: Violet Box May 2014

Apologies (again!) for the late post. These Violet Boxes tend to arrive towards the end of the month and I’m currently in the midst of take-home exams frenzy so please forgive me!

May’s Violet Box arrived sometime towards the end of the month and was in a slightly bigger box than usual.

Lush Lip Scrub in Popcorn $9.95/25g (full size)
Another Lush lip scrub to add to my stash. Love these lip scrubs (I have one in Bubblegum and Santa); always nicely scented according to its name – this one, being popcorn, smells and kinda tastes like salted caramel popcorn. Fun part? It contains popping candy! These fun exfoliating lip scrubs are edible as well so all you have to do is scrub and buff the lip scrub onto your lips then lick off any excess.

Goldwell StyleSign Sleek Perfection $4.99 ($24.95/100ml)
Humidity resistant thermal spray? Yes please. It has a light fruity scent, which I am fond of, and doesn’t weigh my hair down.

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil $22
Similar to Benefit High Brow, this all in one pencil offers highlighting, concealing and brigtening for the eye area. It’s very creamy and blends easily. Only con is the shade, Ivory Lace, which I found way too light for my medium skintone.

Teeez Cosmetics Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick in Tempting Pink $32

Teeez Cosmetics Eve's Ready to Wear Lipstick in Tempting Pink

Teeez Cosmetics Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick in Tempting Pink

Yep, another Teeez Cosmetics product – this time its a nice lipstick in the shade Tempting Pink – a very nice soft pink shade with what I would call a semi-satin finish. When first applied, it looks slightly frosty but give it 5 mins and the frosty finish goes away!

Teeez Cosmetics Eve's Ready to Wear Lipstick in Tempting Pink

Teeez Cosmetics Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick in Tempting Pink

It smells delicious – like the strawberry and cream lollies. Glides on smoothly and lasts me a few hours before it starts wearing off. Just reiterating my gripe – for the price tag, it’s the same cost as a MAC lipstick here, weighs half a gram more but I find the packaging so tacky which is such a shame because I think their quality is pretty good.

Timeless Truth Miracle Rejuvenation Mask $7
Yay, another facial sheet mask to add to my collection. Timeless Truth masks have made an appearance before in Violet Boxes – see here. I love face masks and use them religiously. Subscribers received either this or the Herbal Rejuvenation Immortelle mask ($8). The Miracle Rejuvenation mask promises to reduce the apperance of fine lines, dark spots and wrinkles. Haven’t had the chance to try it out so cannot comment on its promises. Only thing is $7 for a face mask is slightly more than what I pay for my usual face masks.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse ~$1.60 (based on $28095/100ml; also available $24.95/50ml)
A luxe brand that I’ve heard great things about. This multipurpose oil is in a sample satchet (which I really hate – especially for products like this which seem to always find a way of spilling or seeping out). Despite my hatred for sample satchets, I am intrigued as to how this cult product will work on me 9even if it is only single use!)

Nuxe Creme Merveillance ~$2.60 ($64.95/50ml)
A “visible expression lines cream” – despite being in a satchet, you’d probably get at least 2-3 uses out of it.

Overall, this month’s Violet Box gets a thumbs up from me. I think it’s great that they included a variety products – hair, lips, face, body etc and ensures that there is at least one product every subscriber would be happy with. In terms of value, Violet Box never fails. This month’s box included four full size products (!) and three samples totalling a value of $80 which is well worth the monthly subscription fee. Violet Box has also managed to introduce new brands monthly which is a great feature of these monthly subscription boxes.

Review: Violet Box April 2014

Violet Box April 2014

Violet Box April 2014

My Violet Box for April arrived towards the end of the month and this is what I received

Violet Box April 2014

Violet Box April 2014

 Villainess Dulces en Fuego Whipped! $? {sample size} ($15/170g)

Violet Box April 2014: Villainess Dulces en Fuego Whipped!

Violet Box April 2014: Villainess Dulces en Fuego Whipped!

I was first exposed to Villainess in the January 2014 Violet Box with a sample of their soap. This month, Violet Box included Villainess’ Whipped! Body Creme which is a thick and heavy body moisturiser, perfect for Winter. The ingredients of this creme are – bitter chocolate, vanilla, citrus, black pepper and nutmeg. To me, it has a slight nutty scent which isn’t too overwhelming upon smell but have not yet applied it to my body so I’m unsure if the scent lingers.

Bioderma Crealine H2O ~$1.60 ($19.95/100ml, $29.95/250ml, $39.95/500ml)
I based the sample value on the 500ml size…
Such a cute little bottle and one which I was happy to see. Bioderma’s H2O micellar solutions have raced to the top of my HG list and the small size makes it great for overnight stays or short overnight trips.
If you’ve been living under a rock, Crealine h2o is a gentle, fragrance-free micellear cleanser that removes makeup and cleanses your skin at the same time. It’s selling point, I believe, is that you can simply use this and there is no need to rinse. It’s also great for sensitive skin types.

Cedel Scented Hairspray $4.99
A new product from Cedel, I received the scented hairspray in Oriental Blossom (there are three scents available – Oriental Blossom, Raspberry Punch and Coconut Bay). I love the idea of scented hairsprays because normal hairsprays tend to make me nauseous. I don’t usually use hairsprays in my day-to-day hair styling but do use them for special occasions. Oriental Blossom has a very slight floral scent and even though there’s supposedly a slight touch of ginger, I couldn’t smell the ginger (thank goodness! I hate ginger lol!).

Be a Bombshell Eyeliner $19

Violet Box April 2014: Be a Bombshell Eyeliner in Midnight

Violet Box April 2014: Be a Bombshell Eyeliner in Midnight

We’ve received a number of Be a Bombshell products, with the brand making an appearance in the October 2013 and February 2014 boxes.
This month, it’s their eyeliner which looks like a fat texta with a slightly thick tip.

Violet Box April 2014: Be a Bombshell Eyeliner in Midnight

Violet Box April 2014: Be a Bombshell Eyeliner in Midnight

I received this in midnight, a navy blue with a slight purple touch. I haven’t had to chance to try this out yet. However, I will say that this eyeliner doesn’t budge! (Well, not easily anyways….) That swatched remained on my arm for hours!

Teeez Trend Cosmetics Chain of Stones Nail Lacquer in Melted Copper $15

Violet Box April 2014: Teeez Trend Cosmetics Chain of Stones Nail Lacquer in Melted Copper

Violet Box April 2014: Teeez Trend Cosmetics Chain of Stones Nail Lacquer in Melted Copper

When I first unboxed this, I literally gasped. I was so excited haha I love holo polishes and Melted Copper is a … copper with a bit of orange to it (lol duh) shade with a holographic finish.

So two sample size products and three full size products = thumbs up! Pretty much every product this month is useful to me and the value (worth at least $40) of this month’s box made it one of my favourite Violet Boxes to date.

Review: Violet Box March 2014

This month’s Violet Box didn’t arrive until towards the end of March which is probably the latest I’ve ever received a Violet Box.

Violet Box March 2014

Violet Box March 2014

Let’s get straight into it –

Love Those Lashes Silk Strip Lashes in The Jade $14.95
I have only started getting into false lashes and these will make a welcome addition to my collection. They look great to wear for a night out. I have not had the chance to try these yet so cannot comment on them much. It does come with its own adhesive so I will see whether the adhesive glue works the same or better than the Ardell ones. My case was actually broken when the Violet Box arrived which is a shame.

Love Those Lashes Strip Lashes in The Jade

Love Those Lashes Strip Lashes in The Jade

Starlooks Gem Pencil in Amethyst $19.50
Usually comes in 6 different shades, the options for this month’s Violet Box was between Topaz or Amethyst. Amethyst is a metallic lilac shade. It glides on very easy and looks great. I cannot comment on wear time etc because I haven’t had the chance to wear it out either…

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Gogo Girl $4.95
I have already received this shade in September’s Violet Box..it makes for a nice red and goes on easy.

Acorelle Skincare Night Cream ~$1.98/2ml ($49.50/50ml)
In January’s Violet Box, subscribers received a sample of Acorelle’s fragrances and this month, it’s a selection from their skincare range. I received the night cream which has a very strong herbal scent.

Mireness Velvet Lip Moisture Shine in 47 Sweet Tart ~$13.32/1.5g ($39.95/4.5g)
This is a mini version of what Mirenesse claims is an “award winning” lip product. This lip gloss is a lip plumper and the shade I received is slightly coral/peachy shade with gold microshimmer and smells like chocolate. The applicator is a a flattened wand and swatched really smoothly and was very pigmented.

Starlooks Gem Pencil in Amethyst and Mirenesse Velvet Lip Moisture Shine in Sweet Tart

Starlooks Gem Pencil in Amethyst and Mirenesse Velvet Lip Moisture Shine in Sweet Tart

This month’s box was slightly underwhelming. The only item that really piqued my interest were the lashes. Sure, the value of the items far exceeded the value of the monthly subscription fee but for some reason, I just didn’t feel ‘wow’-d!

Review: Violet Box February 2014

February’s Violet Box arrived early in the month and came with a cute love heart shaped lollipop to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Violet Box February 2014

Violet Box February 2014

Red Carpet Kolour $49.95/150ml
At first, I thought this was a self-tanning product but upon reading the description, it is not. It is an illuminating all over body providing coverage for cellulite, stretch marks, age spots etc…sounds like a foundation but for your body. It comes in 3 different shades – light, medium and dark. The sample came in two small satchets, and if I were to use this all over my body, it’d be a one use item…

Nuxe Cream Nirvanesque ~$14.99; $49.95/50ml
A smoothing, destressing and relaxing cream for expression lines. It has a slightly thin consistency, easily spreadable…kind of like slightly melted butter. Leaves skin feeling really smooth and soft.

Be a Bombshell ‘The One’ Stick $21/7.3g
Same premise as NARS The Multiple, colour is similar to NARS Orgasm – pink/peach with gold shimmer. Great for highlighting!

Be a Bombshell The One Stick in Girl Crush

Be a Bombshell The One Stick in Girl Crush

Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon in Some Beach $19/2.5g
Love, love lip crayons. This is a shimmery orange/coral. Glides on easily but has a slight frosty finish. Lasts about 4 hours before a need to reapply.

WotNot Natural Organic Facial Wipes $1.59; $7.95/25 wipes
Sample pack of 5 WotNot face wipes. I can always use face wipes, especially on lazy days when I cannot be bothered to do a full face makeup removal routine. Claims to remove waterproof mascara too. I haven’t had a chance to test these out yet so not sure about that claim haha

Aphelia Oasis Acne Solution $1.96; $49/50ml
I’ve been breaking out on my chin and forehead and I’m currently trialling this to see if it works. It has a strong herbal smell…kind of like the smell in those Chinese natural therapies shops..Rollerball sample…which I don’t think is quite hygenic?

Overall, this month’s box contained products that I would definitely use and included 3 brands that I haven’t heard of. There was also 2 full size products which is worth nearly double the subscription price.

Review: Violet Box December 2013 & January 2014

Going to have to combine my review of the last 2 Violet Boxes – December 2013 and January 2014.

Violet Box December 2013

Violet Box December 2013

December 2013

This was the Christmas Box and came with a purple candy cane – yum!

Violet Box December 2013

Violet Box December 2013

Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate Hand Therapy $10 (full size)
I can always use hand creams because I tend to have really wrinkly hands! I have hand creams everywhere – handbags, car, desk, uni bag etc

SweetPea & Fay J’Adore Les Levres “I Love Lips” in Papercut $12.99 (full size)
This is a brand that is new to me and a quick Google search tells me they’re an artisan cosmetics brand from the USA. This is a liquid lipstick and the shade I received is paper Cut, a dark pink with purple undertones. I’m looking forward to trying this out.

Jelly Pong Pong Wide Awake Palette $32 (full size)
There was a little note in the box stating that the palette had been damaged in transit and would be included in January’s box and ta-da! This looks like an awesome palette – it has a highlighter, concealer and eye brow sculptor all in one ready to create a bright-eyed look. However, my issue is with the eye brow sculptor…the shades are all shimmery! And the 3 shades for the eye brow sculptor are – brow-red, taupe-brown, and black-green….really? For eye brows?

Evo the Therapist Calming Shampoo and Conditioner  ~$4.99 each; $29.95/300ml
Another EVO shampoo and conditioner sample set to add to my ‘travelling products’ collection. This set is recommended for hair that is dry (tick!), frizzy (tick!), and colour-treated (tick!).

To make up for the missing Jelly Pong Pong Wide Awake Palette, the lovely team at Violet Box included SweetPea & Fay Mineral Eyeshadows in UFO Sightings (black purple with purple-red-blue shimmer) and Tom Foolery (a dark smokey purple); both full size worth $17 each.

For a Christmas box, I thought it was a bit better than usual. The only product I wouldn’t use would probably be the mineral eyeshadows. I liked the inclusion of the handcream and palette and thought 3-4 full size products made it a nice Christmas box.

January 2014

Wow, January’s box..when I first opened it, it had a distinctive scent. Read on to find out what the scent is…

Violet Box January 2014

Violet Box January 2014

So Susan Water-Based Pure Luminizer $49 (full size)
Another new brand to me. This is a liquid highlighter – yay! I love highlighters. It has no scent, very easy to spread and is a pearly-slightly off-white highlighter with fine gold shimmer.

So Susan Nail Lacquer in Pink Guava $10 (full size)
I received Pink Guava which is basically a hot Barbie pink. Nice lasting power and a one coat wonder..love it already! The bottle kind of reminds me of the Chanel polishes..the only con I have is that the brush is a little bit small so it was a bit difficult at first applying the polish.

So Susan Pink Grapefruit nail polish

So Susan Pink Grapefruit nail polish

LUSH Gorgeous Facial Moisturiser ~$16.65; $74.95/45g
A very citrus-y face moisturiser that feels light like mousse. Looking forward to trying this once my current moisturiser runs out.
Others may have been lucky and received the Dream Cream Body Lotion, a great product for those with eczema-prone or dry, irritated skin.

MOR Essentials Collection Hand Cream in Basil and Grape and Black Currant Iris ~$1.21; $14.95/80ml
More hand creams…only downside is that they’re in satchets. Good enough for maybe 1.5-2 applications?

Villainess Soaps in Dulces en Fuego $? (sample size; $8.50/99g)
This was what was giving off the distinctive smell. It smells strongly of black cracked pepper and cinnamon. I’m not really a big fan of the scent so I’ll probably give this sample away..

Acorelle Eau De Parfum in Terre de Cedre ~$2.10; $69.95/50ml
Acorelle is a French brand specialising in bringing to us hypoallergenic, organic fragrances using essential oils. Terre de Cedre is a slightly fresh, woody scent…smells like a forest. Not my usual scent but I don’t mind it.

Each month I am never left disappointed with Violet Box’s delivery. It has consistently introduced new brands to consumers as well as the value of each month’s box exceeding the monthly subscription fee – that me to makes it worth the money!

Review: Violet Box November 2013

I received this within the last two weeks but haven’t had time to snap the pics and post so apologies!

Violet Box November 2013

Violet Box November 2013

November’s Violet Box contained the following:

ModelCo Colour Box Eye Pencil + Sharpener $18

I received this in the universal shade – BLACK! Love that it comes with its own sharpener. Just from swatching it, it glides on nicely without any need for tugging. Hopefully this will translate well when applying on my eyes.

ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder Blush $18

Received this in the shade Peach Bellini which is a bit similar to NARS Orgasm, just slightly less sparkles. It’s a nice peachy shade with gold shimmer. I’ve hit pan on NARS Orgasm so yay for something similar! It also comes with an in-built mirror but I find that the packaging is a bit flimsy to be carrying out around in your handbag…

Violet Box November 2013 {SWATCH - ModelCo Colour Box Eye Pencil in Black + Sharpener, ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder Blush in Peach Bellini}

Violet Box November 2013 {SWATCH - ModelCo Colour Box Eye Pencil in Black + Sharpener, ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder Blush in Peach Bellini}

Body Armour Face Cream $35/50ml

Subscribers received either the face cream or body lotion. It has a fresh scent…kinda reminds me of some of Garnier’s face products. It feels very light and is absorbed quickly which I love because I’m impatient and hate waiting around for my moisturiser to dry. It’s designed as a post-treatment moisturiser but I would probably use it everyday anyways.

Tailor Skincare Masque Detoxing Facial Treatment $4 ($40/10 pack)

You can never have enough face masks (..or masques), I say! But wow at the price. Promises to smooth your skin and leaving it feeling firm and looking fresh.

Guess Girl and Guess Night fragrance samples

Sample vial of Guess Night (men’s) and Guess Girl is a sample satchet. I wouldn’t count these as part of the box but more like bonuses. Guess Girl sounds like something I might like so shall bust it open soon and see.

Overall I was not wow-ed by this month’s box but the products aren’t disappointing either. Whether or not it was intentional, I like that there’s the mask to use and then the Body Armour Face Cream to apply afterwards. Nice. November’s Violet Box introduced two new brands to me which I think is partially what subscription boxes should be doing so it’s a thumbs up for me.

Review: Violet Box October 2013

When I first opened Violet Box’s October box, I wasn’t sure but then as I went along my merry way photographing, playing and reading about the products, it won me over.

Violet Box October 2013

Violet Box October 2013

Bodyography Oxyplex Loose Complexion Powder in Almond $60
Subscribers received 1 of 3 variations: loose powder, pressed powder or finishing powder. The shade almond actually looks like it’s a decent match to my skintone. I normally don’t use powders for my face but I’ll try this out and see how I go.

Bodyography Oxyplex loose powder in Cappuccino

Bodyography Oxyplex loose powder in Cappuccino

Be a Bombshell eyeshadow in Halo $18
A new brand! I haven’t heard anything about this brand before. I received the shade Halo which is a white shimmery shade, good for highlighting the brow bone and inner corner. The packaging is very similar to MAC eyeshadows. The powder seems a bit fragile though mine is all cracked!

Be a Bombshell eyeshadow in Halo

Be a Bombshell eyeshadow in Halo

Savoir Faire lipgloss in Bon-Bon $25
I really dig the packaging! From what I’ve seen, everyone received different shades. I received Bon-Bon, a slightly purple-pink shade that smells like caramel toffee..yum!

Bodyography Oxyplex loose powder in Cappuccino, Be a Bombshell eyeshadow in Halo, Savoir Faire lipgloss in Bon-Bon

Apivita Face Mask $7.90
You can never have enough face masks IMO. I received the carrot (regeneration) variation but others may have received the orange (radiance) or red wine (lifting).

John Plunkett Super Wrinkle Cream ~$11.60 ($28.95/50ml)
An anti-aging cream aimed at reducing fine lines and wrinkles and leave skin looking plump. Not sure if I’ll use this or add it to my forever growing anti-aging products stash.

Out of the five products sent, four of them are full retail size! And useful products that will get some use and not just sit around.

Month after month, Violet Box has continued to keep me interested and impress me with the content of each box. For $22.95/month, the value of each box far exceeds the subscription fee which makes it worthwhile.

Review: Violet Box September 2013

Another month and another Violet Box.

Violet Box September 2013

Violet Box September 2013

This month’s box contains the following:

Violet Box September 2013

Violet Box September 2013

Sinful Colors nail polish $4.95 {full size}

I received a red shade called Gogo Girl which will definitely get a lot of use especially with the holiday season coming up in a couple of months. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Sinful Colors nail polishes before so yay!

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Floral Slanted Tweezers $14.95 {full size}

The Vintage Cosmectic Company Emery Board $4.95 {full size}

The products included are great products. I especially love the tools – tweezers and emery board. I seem to always lose my tweezers so it’s nice to know I now have another back-up. I like to keep an emery board in my bag for times when my nails decide to peel or break. Great in emergencies!

NS-5 Cuticle and Nail Complex $9.95 {full size}

Work really takes a toll on my hands and without fail, after every shift, I would have damaged nails and cuticles. I am looking forward to trying this and see how well it works.

Eleven Australia’s Miracle Hair Treatment ~$1.20 {sample size 6ml}

Ever since dying my hair blonde, I’ve been coveting hair treatments like they’re going out of style. I am excited to use this and see what ‘miracle’ it can do for my hair.

Timeless Truth Stem Cell Extract Mask $5 {full size}

You can never have enough face masks. I love face masks and use them at least once a week. This is aimed at anti-aging, increasing moisture and elasticity and maintain the skin’s vital condition.

Five out of the six products are full size and the value in this box far exceeds the subscription fee. This month’s box is another great one, seemingly very nail-centric this month. The products in this month’s box can be easily used by a lot of people. If Violet Box can maintain the quality of their boxes, I really think they have a good chance at surviving in the subscription box market.

The one strange thing I found was that there was a pamphlet for Swissdent products and a special offer for Swissdent…but there wereno Swissdent products in the box!

Review: Violet Box August 2013

This month’s Violet Box is pretty awesome and it seems like I’m not alone in thinking this.

Violet Box August 2013

Violet Box August 2013

Like July’s Violet Box, August’s box also has 5 items, 3 of which are full size items – win!

The packaging is identical to last month’s box so I’m hoping they’ll keep this design. I dig it.

This month’s contents and my quick thoughts:

Violet Box August 2013

Violet Box August 2013

Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 shadow/liner $19 {full size} – just from a quick play, this applied with ease and so pigmented. I received it in the shade Bronze which is very versatile as I opt for brown liners nowadays instead of black.

Jelly Pong Pong lip blush $22 {full size} – it’s a lip stain crayon, along the lines of the Revlon Balm Stains and Clinique Chubby Sticks. Again, very pigmented and good staying power!

* Jelly Pong Pong is a brand that I have never heard of but with the help of Google, it seems like it’s widely available in the UK? and has good reviews *

Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush in Cranberry and Jelly Pong Pong 2-in1 Shadow/Liner in Bronze swatch

Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush in Cranberry and Jelly Pong Pong 2-in1 Shadow/Liner in Bronze swatch

Dr Bragi Age Management Moisturiser $179 {sample; ~$14} – this is probably the only thing in the box that didn’t make me go all “yay” or “wow” etc I would use it up but would probably never buy it for myself as it’s quite out of my budget for moisturisers.

GHD style heat protection spray $24 {full size} – heat protectors…ahh. Something I should always use when I use a hair appliance but rarely do. Now I have this so no excuses. I am looking forward to trialling this.

Goldwell Dualsense rich repair cream shampoo and anti-breakage conditioner {sample; $1.60 for both} – I’ve used Goldwell shampoo and conditioner in the past and have found them to be ok. Sample satchets are good to use when travelling as they take up less space and you can chuck them out once used which is what I’ll be doing with these.

My overall thoughts – such a good box this month as it contained a lot of full size products and introduced a new brand to many of us. I think that if Violet Box continues down this road, they have a chance at surviving in the beauty subscription boxes market.

Review: Violet Box July 2013

July would be the second box from Violet Box. See my review on their first box here.

Violet Box July 2013

Violet Box July 2013

Only in their second month and already, the box has changed from the ones with the lid to ones with the magnetic closure – similar to that of Lust Have It’s June 2013 box, except Violet Box ties up with a purple ribbon on the side.

Violet Box July 2013

Violet Box July 2013

Again, like last month’s box, there are 3 cards – (1) details of box’s contents; (2) $15 gift voucher to use at Adorn Cosmetics; and (3) 30% off Catalina Geo foundations.

Violet Box July 2013

Violet Box July 2013

This month, Violet Box has chosen the following products:

Violet Box July 2013

Violet Box July 2013

Violet Box July 2013

Violet Box July 2013

ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss {full size} This is full size and I am so grateful that they included a very ‘easy’ colour to wear – a peachy nude called Strip Tease.

Aphelia Peony 9+5 Advanced Beautifying Eye Creme {sample} This is an expensive eye cream – $69 for 15ml?? It feels a bit thick and has no scent. Promises to fight fine lines and reduce the apperance of puffy eyes and dark circles. I’m sure we could all use a bit of help in that department!

Catalina Geo Long and Deep Mascara (Plus Refill) {full size} Wow, refill mascara? You basically keep the brush and just open up the new tube to replace. I’m not sure if it’s an ingenius idea or not yet….The mascara is apparently “not affected by tears or perspiration” which I take it to be waterproof. However, it’s supposed to come off easily when it comes to removal.

Adorn Cosmetics Eye Create Intensive Eyeshadow, Shade & Eye Create Matte Shadow {sample sizes} I received Jasper {a shimmery light brown} and Quartz {a matte dark brown, looks like cocoa powder}. These are loose eyeshadow pigments and Adorn Cosmetics is an all Australian, non-toxic, natural and organic brand so this may be a good brand to look into if it’s your thing.

St Tropez Bronzing Mousse {deluxe mini size?} What Hoover is to vacuum cleaners, St Tropez is for bronzing products! I am naturally tanned so I don’t think I’ll have a use for this at all but it’s a great inclusion as Spring and Summer is coming soon.

Overall, out of the 5-6 products in this month’s box, I’d use about 3 – the lipgloss, the mascara and the eye creme. I’m not a fan of loose eyeshadows – I find that they have too much fall out for me to deal with – so I may pass this onto family. Same with the St Tropez – will pass it around my family hehe

In that regard, with the 3 products that I would use adding up to be over $50 in value, the subscription fee that Violet Box charges of $22.95 was worth it for this month for me.

Just as an aside, I found that the Catalina Geo coupon a bit weird because it was for their foundation when the mascara was their product in this month’s box. I’d have thought that they would provide a coupon for a product that has already been trialled (and hopefully loved!) by the consumer…?
